Kelin to market Magadi’s high-quality, natural dense soda ash in Myanmar.
Published onMarch 28, 2026
Yangon, 28 Jan 2026 – Kelin Co., Ltd (“Kelin”) has agreed to provide marketing services for the sale of Tata Chemicals Magadi’s high-quality, natural dense soda ash in Myanmar, breaking the dominance of synthetic soda ash from China and India after a few gap years of natural soda ash import from Europe in the country.
Myanmar will welcome the first shipment of 345MT African natural soda ash in March after the African manufacturer will load its first containers of natural soda ash to Myanmar in Jan 2026.
Tata Chemicals manufacturers natural soda ash at the Kenyan town of Magadi. This soda ash plant is the largest manufacturer of soda ash in Africa. The natural soda ash is made from trona minerals from lake Magadi. The lake has one of the purest surface deposits of trona. The trona is converted by Magadi plant to soda ash, at a facility near the mining operations, and the soda ash is transported by rail to Mombasa for onward shipping.
